You can be sure about having less demand, if your photos of jewelry don’t look as inviting as they should be. However it isn’t a matter of concern if you are careful about not making these mistakes.

  1. Remove price tags or stickers before shooting the piece.
  2. Check for missing stones, marks and other defects before you begin to take pictures. It will save you a lot of time and money.
  3. Clean the piece properly before you take photos, because even a single speck of dust would show up on your screen with a high resolution camera.
  4. The main problem with jewelry is the fact that they are reflective. Ensure that your reflection or the reflection of the camera does not get into the picture by chance!
  5. Props or mannequins can only be disturbing, if not helpful. Avoid them as far as possible.
  6. Lighting arrangements should ensure that no part of the piece is underexposed, or it ends up looking dull and unattractive.
  7. Don’t use pictures of different sizes. Maintain consistency to avoid confusion.
  8. Finally, don’t over-do it in the retouching department. Make the piece look natural.
