Furniture photography canbe interesting work; usually comes in handy for Real-estate purposes or for furniture showrooms. While it is relatively easy compared to food or real-life model photography, it does have some rules of thumb that must never be forgotten. Some of the important points to get a good shot include:
- Use natural lighting when you can. You could place a white cloth over a window to get the soft lighting.
- Add shadows to the furniture to make it look realistic.
- Take direct shots of the furniture; angled pictures look funny and lose the professional look needed.
- Move away from the room if needed, instead of using different lenses. Position yourself outside the room and take the picture from a door in this case.
- Tidy up before you shoot. Don’t let unnecessary dirt stick around in your frame.
- However, being too immaculate could make the entire picture look fake and unreal.
- Don’t crowd the room too much. Use props only which are strictly required.
