Furniture Retouching and Tips for Furniture photography

Furniture photography

Furniture photography canbe interesting work; usually comes in handy for Real-estate purposes or for furniture showrooms. While it is relatively easy compared to food or real-life model photography, it does have some rules of thumb that must never be forgotten. Some of the important points to get a good shot include:

  1. Use natural lighting when you can. You could place a white cloth over a window to get the soft lighting.
  2. Add shadows to the furniture to make it look realistic.
  3. Take direct shots of the furniture; angled pictures look funny and lose the professional look needed.
  4. Move away from the room if needed, instead of using different lenses. Position yourself outside the room and take the picture from a door in this case.
  5. Tidy up before you shoot. Don’t let unnecessary dirt stick around in your frame.
  6. However, being too immaculate could make the entire picture look fake and unreal.
  7. Don’t crowd the room too much. Use props only which are strictly required.
