Common mistakes in Photo editing

Portrait Retouching and Photo Editing

Photo editing can be easy and fun for those who are exploring the many facilities in Photoshop or any other editor, but watch out! You could get too carried away with it and end up creating an alien or a plastic doll out of a real human face…certainly not good for your natural and beautiful look. So here is a list of dos and don’ts for the wild spirited photo editor in you :

  • Don’t brighten your teeth, or make your eyes glitter more than necessary.
  • Learn how to crop properly, and then use it.
  • Don’t give a dreamy haze to the photo, unless you are particularly aiming for a fairy tale effect.
  • Over-use of filters doesn’t enhance the picture, in fact it might even destroy the original picture.
  • Avoid using heavy tones as much as possible.
  • Instead of draining the photo of all its color by desaturation, go for black and white effect.
  • Don’t pop out colors in some places and leave the rest black and white for a fashionable look…..that is just so old-fashioned!
  • And finally, don’t forget to back up your original pictures and work your editing on a copy. That way, you can always start all over again when you think it is heading the wrong way.
